Granted, there’s a chance that One Chicago could be saving the crossover ace up its sleeve for later in the season, perhaps even as a mid-season finale/cliffhanger.

Law & Order kicking off their respective shows with a crossover means that One Chicago would be stealing its thunder, so we can all but guarantee that it will not happen at the same time. There hasn’t been one in several years, and there have been lots of new characters introduced, making the notion of a crossover fresher than ever.
Heading into the upcoming seasons of each show, it seemed as though a crossover event would be a natural occurrence. Chicago Fire showrunner Derek Haas has admitted that the crossover is still in the cards, but that he and the rest of the franchise teams were forced to delay it. One Chicago has been planning a crossover event for the past few seasons, with plans to stage a three-parter during the 2021 season being scrapped due to COVID restrictions. Where does the issue come into play exactly? Is there a One Chicago crossover 2022? Law & Order and One Chicago are separate franchise, despite sharing the same universe and the same producer in Dick Wolf. On the surface, there doesn’t seem to be much of a correlation. It’s a thrilling proposition for fans of the franchise, as it will mark the first time this has happened, but it also hints at some disappointing plans for the One Chicago franchise. Law & Order has recently announced its plans to stage a three-part crossover event between all three of its titles: Law & Order, Organized Crime and SVU.
